Most coins never find a buyer
Launching a coin on pump.fun takes a minute and very little money, and the numbers show it. In the eight days from October 23 to 30, 2026, Anceta recorded 346,512 new pump.fun coins: about 43,314 a day, or one every two seconds.
Most of them went nowhere. 192,571 coins (55.6%) still had two holders or fewer ten minutes after launch. Only 2.0% had passed a hundred holders by then, and 1.8% went on to fill their bonding curve and graduate.

For the rest of this report, a coin that reached at least three holders in its first ten minutes counts as one that traded. That leaves 153,941 coins (44.4%), and it is the fairer base for a rug rate: a coin nobody bought could not rug anyone.
One in five that trade, rug
Of the 153,941 coins that traded, 30,460 rugged under Anceta's rule: their market collapsed on chain, typically 80% or more below the peak while the creator or the wallets that bought at launch were selling, or they fell far below their peak and stopped trading (what counts as rugged). That is 19.8%, one in five.
The share held steady, between 17.2% and 23.3% on any one day. Counted against every launch, including the coins that never traded, 8.8% of new pump.fun coins rugged.

Most rugs are over in a minute
Anceta watches every coin from its first seconds. Of the 30,494 pump.fun coins that rugged, 35.8% had already lost 80% or more of their peak value 30 seconds after launch. At one minute it was 59.2%; at ten minutes, 79.7%.

The creator's own sale follows the collapse closely: in 51.5% of these rugs the creator had sold within the first minute, and in 76.8% within ten. For anyone checking a coin by hand, that is the uncomfortable part. A careful look takes a few minutes, and by the five-minute mark 77% of these coins had already collapsed.
How the rugs happened
Anceta records how each rug happened. Four in five (82.7%) were sell-offs by the people closest to the launch: the creator or the launch wallets selling and the price collapsing within minutes (38.5%) or within the first hour (25.6%), or insiders selling out while the price fell 90% or more (18.6%).

The rest were coins that stopped trading far below their peak (9.3%) and coins whose liquidity fell to zero (8.0%), most of those (61%) after they had left the bonding curve. The old picture of a rug as a developer pulling the pool does not fit most of these coins. The usual ending is selling, by the wallets that were there first.
A few wallets launch most coins
120,738 different wallets created pump.fun coins in these eight days. Most created exactly one: 106,537 wallets, 88.2% of all creators. At the other end, 468 wallets created at least 100 coins each, 138,243 between them, or 39.9% of everything launched. Together, 1,590 wallets (1.3% of creators) launched more than half of all coins (53.4%).

History follows these wallets. Two launches in three (66.3%) came from a wallet that had created a coin before, and one in three (32.3%) from a creator whose earlier coin had already been judged a rug by the time the new one launched.
Those coins rugged far more often. Among coins that traded, 30.8% of those from a creator with an earlier rug rugged too, against 11.7% for creators without one. Volume tells the same story: coins from a wallet that had launched 20 or more other coins in the previous 24 hours rugged 29.7% of the time, against 12.0% for a creator's first coin of the day.

One caution: Anceta's records for this report start on October 20, so “earlier” reaches back only that far. With a longer history, the share of coins from creators with an earlier rug could only be higher.
The time of day
Launches follow the American day. The busiest hour, 16:00 to 17:00 UTC, saw 20,231 launches over the eight days, 2.5 times as many as the quietest, 07:00 to 08:00 UTC (8,077).
The rug rate moves the other way. It peaked at 24.4% of traded coins in the 08:00 hour and was lowest in the busy hours, 17.8% at 19:00 UTC. When the crowd thins out, a larger share of what launches ends in a rug.

Families
Anceta groups coins that share a recipe into families, so a new coin can be read next to its relatives. By October 30 it had placed 60,090 coins into 6,089 families. Most families are small (2,290 have two to four coins); 71 hold fifty or more.
Size alone says little about how a family behaves. JN-3G holds 97 coins: 46 rugged and one survived. EK-3K, almost the same size at 93 coins, had 2 rugs and 71 survivors. That is why Anceta shows what a coin's relatives did, not just how many it has.

How this compares
The figure most often quoted for pump.fun comes from Solidus Labs' 2025 report, which described 98.6% of its tokens as pump-and-dumps: tokens whose liquidity had fallen below $1,000, out of more than seven million with at least five trades created between January 2024 and March 2025.1 That measures collapse. As DeepStrike's review of rug pull statistics points out, a token with little liquidity left is not, by that alone, evidence of fraud.2
This report asks a narrower question: among coins that actually found buyers, how many collapsed while the people who launched them sold? The two answers fit together. Most coins never matter to anyone, and of those that do, about one in five rugs.
How we counted
Coins. Every pump.fun coin Anceta recorded launching between October 23, 00:00 and October 31, 00:00 UTC (346,512 coins), read from Solana by Anceta as each launched. Other launchpads (35,469 coins in the same days) are not part of the rates.
Traded. At least three holders within ten minutes of launch.
Rugged. Anceta's rule, the same one its app uses (what counts as rugged). A coin that rugs after the data was drawn on October 31 is not counted, so the rates are, if anything, slightly low.
Dates. Anceta's records for this report start on October 20. The first three days are left out because the way coins were read and judged changed during them; from October 23 the method is the same throughout.
Rounding. Shares are rounded to one decimal; counts are exact. A published report is never rewritten: a correction, if one is needed, is added here with its date.
